Tie all point data to consistent geographies of interest

For point data, add variables to associate each data point with geographies of interest: census tract, zip code, city council district, county commission district, State house and senate district. Some of the files do include some geographies but the specifics seem to vary across the data files - should just be a matter of a nice geocoding script to make all the files interoperable. This would also facilitate the production of reports of key metrics for each geography (profiles of one’s City Council district, etc).

Migration: Memphis Property Hub

Our previous tool yielded tons of user feedback regarding lag time, delays, broken filters, and a lack of user friendliness when navigating the tool. Starting in Jan 2025, we will be transitioning the Memphis Property Hub to a new home.

Make data dictionary more discoverable

Field names and variable descriptions are very easy to overlook the “Expand” button to see Data Schema (and most users won’t understand that’s what “Data Schema” means)

Consistent naming conventions for catalog sources

Determine consistent naming conventions for catalog sources since they are alphabetical and people will scroll (recommend topic then more detailed descriptors, maybe source);

For external sources in ODS catalog, add links to parent agency website (ex: Shelby County Health Dept for the Healthier Shelby entry)

Clearly label data catalog items that go to external sites — I was confused why there was no data in the entry until someone explained to me that Data Midsouth contains hosted dataset and links to external websites with valuable data tools.
